Atelier

Signal is a decision, not a colour on a tile.

This page is the studio’s working definition of app analytics. It is not a product tour. It is the furniture of the room you sit in when you take a programme.

What we mean by a packet

A packet is the smallest honest record of “someone did this, then.” In mobile practice that is usually an event plus a few properties plus a time. In sloppy practice it is a vendor template named after a hope. The Atelier trains you to tell the two apart by reading samples, not by admiring a demo workspace.

We also talk about silence. Permissions denied, webviews that swallow taps, background fetch that looks like devotion. Counting silence as love is how D1 becomes a fiction.

If the chart cannot survive a reading of twenty raw rows, it is décor.

Windows, not vibes

Retention windows should match the product’s calendar: a weekly puzzle, a monthly bill, a commute. Importing a SaaS “D7” because the template offered it is how British subscription apps invent a crisis every Monday.

In the Atelier you practise writing the window in a sentence a counsel could read. “Returned to complete a lesson inside ten days of install, excluding silent launches.” Ugly. Stable.

Ethics of the count

App analytics in the United Kingdom sits next to UK GDPR, the ICO’s guidance on analytics, and whatever your DPO had for breakfast. We do not teach you to hide identifiers in property bags. We do teach you to document why a property exists and when it should expire.

The instrumentation debt essay is the companion reading. The live programmes are where you apply it to a schema you actually own.

Sit the work

If this tone matches the problem on your desk, start with the programmes shelf or send the one-page sketch. The Atelier is a stance, not a separate checkout.
